I have a pair of Heathkit AS-101 Speakers that I purchased way back in the 70's, I replaced the voice coils for the tweeters last year.
A sweet sound.
I was toying with the idea of bi-amplification and rewiring the crossover for that purpose.
Now the question, using the Sub output from a receiver into a separate amplifier and porting it to the woofers for the LFE and setting the tweeters as small in the surround settings on the AVR.
Would it work OK
NO it won't
Not even close
Sub crossovers are VERY LOW
Too low for the horn
You may blow the horns, and have a huge hole in the sound

you could bi-amp these with an electronic crossover and two power amps but do not use the sub bass output on your receiver. These bi-amped systems are difficult to set up properly. I would say both power amps with gain controls are a minimum needed.
If your looking for more kick from the bottom end, add a dedictated sub woofer with a big plate amp. The JBL 18" drivers like the 2245 or 2240 are good for this purpose. The 18" drivers require a huge cabinet, however.
